The Games will start this afternoon at 5pm Portuguese time as the Swedish women’s football team take on their counterparts from South Africa.


The men’s football group matches also start before the Games are due to officially begin, with Portugal taking the field against Argentina tomorrow evening at 10pm.


The reason for the football fixtures being brought forward is that 58 games will be played between now and the final on 20 August.
