Jorge Mendes, winner in seven of eight editions of the prize for best agent, has as opponents for the prize this year Italy's Stefano Castagna and Englishman Jonathan Barnett.

Real Madrid, the best club in 2017, has been nominated again after winning the Champions League last season, joining Liverpool, the defeated finalist, and local rival Atletico Madrid, holder of the Europa League title.

Frenchman Zinédine Zidane, the former Real Madrid coach and now without a club, could also repeat last year's win in the category of best coach of the year, in competition with Diego Simeone (Atletico Madrid), Massimiliano Allegri (Juventus) Didier Deschamps (French national team) and Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool).

The Globe Soccer Awards, first awarded in 2010, will take place on the last day of the international sports conference in Dubai, and will feature trophies in 13 different categories.
