In a statement, the PJ police said the bust was carried out following an ongoing inquiry launched by the Portimão Criminal Investigation Branch and with the collaboration of the PJ’s National Anti Drug-Trafficking Unit, the GNR’s Coast Guard, and the Portuguese Air Force.
The seven men, aged 46 to 58, have been formally identified and arrested “for the crime of drug trafficking.”
“During the course of investigations (…) detainees were intercepted at dawn, on a beach in the Sagres area, after unloading 70 bales of hashish, with a total weight of 2,100 kilograms”, the PJ’s statement explained.
