UPDATE: 16:18 - Silves fire - 168 personnel | 52 vehicles | 8 aircraft

The fire was initially reported at 12.09pm and is currently being fought by 150 personnel, 47 vehicles and 8 aircraft.

District relief commander Abel Gomes told Sul Informação, that currently no evacuations of properties were needed, however strong winds are hampering efforts to being the fire under control.

A further fire has been reported by the authorities in the Algarve in the Quinta do Lago area of Almancil. This fire began at 3.32pm and is currently being fought by 7 personnel and being assisted by 2 vehicles.
