The number of overnight stays rose by 10.5% in the period, and the island, which is an autonomous region of Portugal, was visited by 1,060,651 people, the Office said.

The Office for the Economy said in a statement that, Revenue per Available Room (RevPar) rose 16.3% over the first nine months of the year, and the occupancy rate also rose, by 4.9 percent, against the same period of the previous year.

RevPar rose to €50.11, while the average occupancy rate was 72.1%.
