The number of overnight stays were up by 10.5 percent in the period, and the island, which is an autonomous region of Portugal, was visited by 1,060,651 people, the Office said.
The Office for the Economy said in a statement that, Revenue per Available Room (RevPar) increased by 16.3 percent to €50.11 over the first nine months of the year, and the occupancy rate also rose, by 4.9 percent to 72.1 percent, against the same period of the previous year.
