The AMA Clinic said this week it aims to provide patients with comprehensive plastic surgery, aesthetic and reconstructive medicine, differentiated aesthetic medicine, vascular surgery, dermatology, nutrition, dentistry and clinical psychology.
Under Dr. Avelino Monteiro, who specialises in plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, is a team of fellow surgeons, nutritionists, vascular surgeons, dermatologists, dentists, anaesthetists, nurses and therapists.
A visibly proud and enthusiastic Dr. Monteiro explained to The Portugal News on Saturday that the clinic is geared towards every type of cosmetic surgery possible, including popular treatments such as “breast implants, corrective surgery, facelifts, liposuction, botox and tummy tucks.”
A wide array of state-of-the-art equipment can be found at the clinic, which was built at a cost of several hundreds of thousands of euros, sources close to clinic revealed.
Among the equipment on offer is a Fotona laser, renowned in the world of cosmetic surgery for its success in dealing with procedures such as acne and acne scar reduction, permanent hair reduction, pigmented lesions, scar revision, skin resurfacing, tattoo removal and vascular lesions.
Dr Avelino Monteiro added at Saturday’s opening that he has worked extensively across the world, including in his native Brazil, Lisbon, Guimarães and the Hospital Particular units in Faro and Alvor. He added that the aim was to avoid people in southern Portugal having to travel to Lisbon or further afield in order to obtain treatments which up until now had not been readily available in the Algarve.
The clinic is the first such unit south of the Tagus dedicated to comprehensive cosmetic treatments, where every patient is “evaluated personally to ensure the best and most sustainable treatment.”
The clinic has also attracted extensive demand from abroad, having treated patients from Brazil, Angola and Mozambique and is looking to branch out to attract more European patients, given the location of the new clinic, which is a brief drive from Faro airport – just a short flight to most destinations in western Europe.
