Six more southern districts of mainland Portugal are now under yellow warning due to the forecast of rain, hail and thunderstorm, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

The districts of Santarém, Portalegre, Setúbal, Évora, Beja and Faro will be under yellow warning between 12pm and 6pm on 14 May due to the forecast of periods of rain or showers, sometimes heavy, with hail and accompanied by thunderstorm and strong gusts.

The yellow warning is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the weather situation.

The IPMA forecast for 14 May on the continent very cloudy skies and periods of rain or showers, sometimes heavy, with hail and that in the South region may be accompanied by thunderstorms.

The possibility of snowfall at the highest points of Serra da Estrela is also planned until early in the morning.

The forecast also points to a light to moderate wind from the south quadrant, being from the north quadrant on the coast of the North and Centre regions in the afternoon, sometimes blowing hard in the highlands of the Central and South regions, temporarily with gusts up to 60 kilometres per hour in the Algarve and the possibility of fogging or morning fog in some places.

The minimum temperatures on the continent will range between 6 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 13 (in Faro, Aveiro and Porto) and the maximum between 13 (in Guarda) and 20 (in Santarém, Leiria, Coimbra, Aveiro and Braga).

Rain might not be pleasant now, but in a few months we will wish it to rain.
