Charles and Liset’s good news

A long, long time ago, I can still remember... I Charles, lived in the Algarve for ten years.

It was a wonderful time, and with a lot of my friends I went to primary school at the Escola Internacional de São Lourenço, and I got to know a little of the wonderful Algarve together with my family. I remember the delicious pastéis de nata, the wonderful (mostly quite empty) beaches, the lovely Monchique, my first words in Portuguese, and much more...

So much reason to come back. Now, about 20 years later, I came back for a holiday. Just an ordinary holiday? No, not quite that. I came back with my girlfriend Liset. She had been here once before, but only to Albufeira and a few other highlights of the Algarve. So why not take her to the hidden treasures on a beautiful holiday in the Corona time?

What did we do then? We booked a quiet house in the mountains close to Boliqueime, we had a fantastic Frango Piri Piri, we went out to the outskirts of Monchique (where we got stuck with our car and had to be tow-trucked away after waiting for half a day...), we visited the fantastic Saturday market in Loulé, we went to Aljezur and the beautiful surfers beach nearby, and many other things as well.

However, I had saved something beautiful for the end of the holiday. I had planned it just two weeks ago but I managed to get everything done just in time. On a Monday in September we first had a whole morning just to rest (after our wonderful... adventure in Monchique the day before).

In the afternoon we went first to Krazy World, and after that we went to Cabo de São Vicente, just to see this beautiful point at sunset. Or so Liset thought! After we arrived and quickly went to the loo, we ran to a nice viewing point at the edge of a cliff to make some pictures. Was that all? No. I also asked here the most nerve racking question of my life “Will you marry me?”, and she said YES. One more reason to come back here one day in the future!
