Surfing banned at Nazaré

Health officials have issued a freesurfing and tow-surfing ban at Praia do Norte in Nazaré, citing COVID-19 health concerns, after large crowds descended upon the spot to watch surfing during last week’s historic swell.

It is unclear how long the order will last – the only mention on timing thus far has been “until further notice.” It’s also understood that the Mayor of Nazaré is working to allow freesurfers access to the water, outside of “events.”

It's very clear the sane people of Portugal need to make a stand.
