Luis Suárez tests positive for Covid-19

Striker Luis Suárez has tested positive for the new coronavirus and will miss Uruguay hosting Brazil, qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, announced the Uruguayan federation yesterday.

Luis Suárez is also expected to miss Saturday’s match with FC Barcelona, who left this season to sign with Atletico Madrid.

Additionally, the goalkeeper Rodrigo Muñoz has tested positive. The Uruguayan federation also revealed that the remaining players, including benefactor Darwin Núñez, had negative tests for the new coronavirus, which causes the covid-19. Defender Matías Viña from Palmeiras and Abel Ferreira have already tested positive.

Uruguay hosts Brazil on Tuesday in the fourth round of the South American qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, at a time when it is fourth, with six points, three less than the 'canarinhos', who lead victorious.
