Deaths in care homes dropped by 98% in the last month

The week of 8 to 15 March saw the fewest deaths by Covid-19 in care homes since the beginning of the pandemic, the Minister of Social Security said yesterday.

Ana Mendes Godinho said there had been a 98% reduction in the last month. According to Ana Mendes Godinho, citing international comparative data on the number of deaths in Residential Structures for the Elderly (ERPI), compared to the number of total deaths, Portugal "had one of the lowest rates in Europe".
