Yellow weather warnings in Portugal

Four districts of mainland Portugal and the central and western groups of the Azores are today under a yellow weather warning due to heavy rainfall, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

The districts of Aveiro, Viseu, Coimbra and Leiria have a yellow warning, not only due to the forecast of precipitation, sometimes strong and persistent, but also because of the possibility of thunderstorms between 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm today.

In the Azores, the IPMA also placed the central (Graciosa, Faial, Pico, Terceira and São Jorge) and western (Flores and Corvo) groups under yellow warning for predicting heavy rain, which may be accompanied by thunder, and strong wind.

In the western group the yellow precipitation warning is in effect until 9:00 am on Thursday and the wind warning between 3:00 pm today and 9:00 pm on Thursday.

According to IPMA, in the central group the yellow warning due to rain will be in effect between 12:00 pm today and 12:00 pm on Thursday and the wind warning between 3:00 pm today and 9:00 pm Thursday.
