PJ police officers today carried out a dozen searches on homes and clinical analysis laboratories in the Algarve and Porto, in an investigation triggered after a professional footballer, allegedly infected with covid-19, took a flight overseas.

In a statement released today, the PJ and the Public Prosecutor said that operation “covid free” involved the collaboration of a member of the Doctor Ricardo Jorge National Health Institute.

The football player could be held accountable for the crimes of spreading disease, tampering with analysis or prescriptions, and punishable with a prison sentence of one to eight years.
