Madeira, Terceira and more 5 districts at high UV risk

Five districts of mainland Portugal, Madeira archipelago and Terceira Island (Azores) are today at a very high risk of exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

At very high risk are the districts of Lisbon, Santarém, Setúbal, Beja and Faro, Madeira archipelago and Terceira island (central group of the Azores).

IPMA also placed the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Vila Real, Bragança, Guarda, Viseu, Coimbra, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Portalegre and Évora and the islands of São Miguel, Faial and Flores (Azores) at high risk of exposure to UV radiation.

For regions with very high risk, the IPMA advises the use of sunglasses with UV filter, hat, 't-shirt', parasol, sunscreen and avoid exposing children to the sun.
