The 29-year-old surfer from Cascais was scheduled to travel to the Japanese capital on 23 July to join compatriots Yolanda Sequeira and Teresa Bonvalot, who will take part in the surfing competitions at Tsurigasaki beach, about 100 kilometres away, from Sunday, 25 July.

With the absence of Frederico Morais, 11th on the world surfing circuit, who had secured a spot at the 2019 World Surfing Games, Portugal's Mission to Tokyo2020 is reduced to 91 participants in 17 disciplines.
