The possibility that people over 18 years old can self-schedule the first dose of vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 virus occurs more than three weeks after, in early June, vaccination was opened for the age group between 18 and 29 years old in descending order of age.

This method allows people to select where and when they want to be vaccinated, then receiving an SMS confirming the day, time and vaccination center. Confirmation of the appointment implies that an SMS reply is sent.

Following phase 2 of the vaccination plan and with a greater number of vaccines received by Portugal, the self-programming portal went into operation on 23 April for people over 65.

Last week, Vice Admiral Gouveia e Melo, who coordinates the vaccination plan against covid-19, admitted that the self-scheduling were suspended in some municipalities, due to the high demand given the number of vaccines available, but he added that the opening from the age of 20 should still happen this week.
