The 2021 RASI reports that 1,042 members of the security forces and services were injured as a result of operational activity, 18 of whom required admission to hospital and 1,024 suffered minor injuries.
Police officers in need of hospitalisation increased by 157% in 2021 compared to 2020, while elements of the security forces and services with minor injuries increased by 21%.
RASI also highlights that an officer from the Republican National Guard died on duty last year.
