“An agreement is being prepared between the two countries, with a particular focus on the areas of Defence, foreign policy, science, Higher Education and climate change”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, João Gomes Cravinho, told Lusa.

The signing of this agreement is only dependent on the recovery of António Costa's state of health, who had to cancel his presence at the celebrations of the 10th of June in Braga, between Friday and this Saturday.

However, an executive source said that the leader of the Portuguese executive “continues to register a very favourable recovery” and the most likely scenario is that he can travel to London.

The meeting with Boris Johnson at 10 Downing Street is scheduled for 1 pm on Monday.

Still in relation to the bilateral agreement in preparation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs indicated that cooperation in the commercial field is a matter regulated by Brexit, the United Kingdom's exit agreement from the European Union.

Therefore, the Portuguese-British trade reactions can be deepened, as long as they respect the agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom.
