The extraordinary increase in pensions is one of the flagship measures of the State Budget for 2022 and will start to arrive in the bank accounts of pensioners this Friday.

The extraordinary update will cover a total of 1.9 million pensioners and involves the payment of a bonus of up to 10 euros per pensioner, whose overall pension amount is equal to or less than 2.5 times the value of the social support index (IAS), that is, 1,108 euros.

As this year's State Budget only came into force on June 28, pensioners will also receive a retroactive payment dating back to January.

This happens precisely at the same time in which retirees will receive their holiday allowance, which will also arrive plus a bonus of up to 10 euros for pensions up to 1,108 euros.

This measure will cost the state 197 million euros.
