According to the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority website, at midday, 1,572 personnel were involved in fighting the flames, supported by 457 vehicles and 15 air assets.

Last night there was a reinforcement of assets and the combat involved 1,685 operatives, supported by 517 ground assets.

Lusa tried to obtain more information about the fire during the morning, but the authorities referred to the new 'briefing' that will take place in Guarda, where the 2nd national commander of Emergency and Civil Protection, Miguel Cruz, will once again make a statement.

The fire, which has already burned more than 10 thousand hectares, broke out in the early hours of the 6th in Garrocho, in the municipality of Covilhã, in the district of Castelo Branco.

The flames then spread to the district of Guarda, in the municipalities of Manteigas, Gouveia, Guarda and Celorico da Beira.

On Thursday - when the wind and the terrain of the area continued to make it difficult to fight the flames -, the overturning of a fire engine in Celorico da Beira, during operations, caused three serious injuries and two minor injuries, according to the Civil Protection.
