“We are going to have a 24-hour strike on the 12th,” said Anabela Carvalheira, from the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (FECTRANS). Speaking to Lusa, the unionist explained that the administration of Metropolitano de Lisboa is “irreducible and without any negotiating capacity”, so the negotiation process which started months ago has not been concluded.

Therefore, workers “do not have salary increases, which, given this situation with inflation at 9% per month, is not at all admissible”, she said. “Workers are losing purchasing power,” she stressed.

Anabela Carvalheira also highlighted that there is still a lack of workers at the Lisbon Metro.
