“On May 3, the presence of the Monkeypox virus (VMPX) was
detected in Portugal, with laboratory confirmation of five cases of human
infection by VMPX said the DGS in a statement.
According to the health authority, until Wednesday, 851
cases were reported in SINAVEmed (National Epidemiological Surveillance
System), most of which belong to the age group between 30 and 39 years (44%).
According to DGS data, 99.1% of infections were recorded in
men (843), with eight cases reported in women.
