The Silves Council's decision is due to "the clear need to guarantee the free movement of people and goods during the summer months".
It is the measure that the local authority believes will allow for the “minimising of the damage to accessibility for citizens in general and preventing risks arising from possible mobility limitations, especially for children, the elderly, people with disabilities or with limited mobility, since the town of Armação de Pêra becomes a tourist attraction during the bathing season, which is reflected in a significant increase in the population in this location”.
