The history of the town of Tavira is presented in a series of scenes combining present day photographs and Peter´s imagined scenes from the past. The narrator of this story is a Portuguese podengo, Pongo. Peter will repeat his presentation on the following evening in Lagoa.

The first concert in our annual series will take place on Sunday 16th October at 16:00 at Quintinha da Música. We shall welcome back Portuguese pianist Vasco Dantas, who also opened our season in 2021. Vasco will present a programme devoted to water and wine, featuring pieces by Debussy, Ravel, Rachmaninov, Gershwin and Wagner and there will be opportunities for wine tasting as a part of the event. Reservations at €20 can be made through lynne.algarvehistory@gmail.com or peterbooker1347@gmail.com.

Lastly, on Tuesday 25th in Lagoa and Friday 28th in Tavira, Peter will present his thoughts on The Christian Re-Conquest of the Algarve. This story covers the years 1189 - 1249, from the first conquest of Silves to the completion of the conquest by the bigamist and usurper King, D Afonso III.
