According to NM, the National Directorate of the Foreigners and Borders Service met with the councillors of the Lisbon City Council, Filipa Roseta (Housing and Local Development), Sofia Athayde (Human and Social Rights), and Ângelo Pereira (Civil Protection and Help).

At the meeting, requested by the municipality, and which also had the participation of the Regional Directorate of Lisbon, Tagus Valley, and Alentejo of SEF, clarifications were provided on the scope of SEF's powers of control and supervision of the stay of foreign citizens in national territory, exchange of statistical information on the foreign population residing in the municipality of Lisbon and the definition of strategies for joint action.


Following this meeting, the SEF revealed, on its Facebook page, that at the end of last year, 118,947 foreign citizens with residence permits resided in the municipality of Lisbon, the main countries of origin being Brazil (22,080), Italy (9,391), France (9,033), Nepal (8,875) and Bangladesh (8,486).
