The Association of Civil Construction and Public Works Industries (AICCOPN) revealed that the number of licensed houses in new constructions rose 5.0% in 2022 compared to the previous year. Licenses for new construction works or rehabilitation for housing fell by 0.7% between these two moments.
In 2022, the number of licensed housing in new constructions increased by 5% compared to 2021, to 29,924 units, explains AICCOPN in the Statistical Summary of Housing sent to newsrooms.
The Autonomous Region of Madeira stands out, where the number of licensed dwellings in new constructions in 2022 was 672, a figure that translates to a decrease of 12.7% compared to the 770 licensed dwellings in 2021.
With regard to municipal licensing, there was, on the other hand, "a decrease of 0.7% compared to the same period in the number of new construction or rehabilitation works in licensed residential buildings", they also detail in the document.
AICCOPN data also point out that “cement consumption in the national market increased by 1.5% in 2022, totalling 3,836 thousand tons, which corresponds to the best record since 2011”.
