If you have been wondering what these are, then we are happy to let you know that this is a new feature to enable readers to read the articles in English in print and in the language of their choice when using the accompanying QR code.

Readers online are already able to choose the language they would prefer to navigate and read the site in and we wanted to bring this service to our in print readers too.

Now when you see and article of interest with a QR code next to it, all you have to do is scan the code on your smartphone and this will take you to our site where you can then choose to read the article in your selected language. Your language choice will then be remembered for the next time you visit however you can still switch to another language at any point.

The QR codes are also a great way to share articles online that you have read in the print edition with friends and family, or to even save the article to read later! Once you open the article you have the choice to share through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or via Whatsapp with the click of a button.

The Portugal News online is available for readers in English and an additional 18 different languages including Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Russian, Romanian, Chinese, Turkish, Hindi, Portuguese, Ukrainian, Urdu, Polish, Arabic, Finnish and Hebrew.

This new feature is currently in beta testing so we would greatly appreciate your patience if you encounter any issues, and also your feedback for us to be able to continuously improve the reader experience.
