“Each individual package and the outer package of smoking tobacco products, including cigarettes, rolling tobacco, hookah tobacco and heated tobacco products, to the extent they are smoking tobacco products, must bear combined health warnings, which include one of the text warnings and a corresponding colour photograph”, according to the legislation.
Under a transitional rule, products that have been introduced onto the market before the date this law comes into effect may be sold until they run out, within the validity period of the “respective special stamp”.
The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, promulgated at the beginning of the month the parliamentary decree that transposes the European Union directive on the withdrawal of certain exemptions applicable to heated tobacco products, “reinforcing standards” for the prevention and control of smoking.
