“We launched “marketplace” over the course of this month. The website puts companies on the radar, promoting and commercialising, which allows a tourist to choose and buy without having to leave the platform”, announced the president of TPNP, Luís Pedro Martins.

“We registered another national record in 2023, and also a regional record, however, to maintain these stats, you need to understand the trends, you need to know what you’re doing, namely understanding the journey of the tourist, understand how they do their research, the destinations they want to experience and also understand their purchases”, he explained.

Luís Pedro Martins recalled the North region surpassed six million guests in 2023, compared to 2022, an increase of 15 percent, and the region is number two in the national ranking regarding guests.

“We continue to grow in revenue”, he said, remembering that the North surpassed €900 million, a figure that also surpassed the year 2019, one of the best before the pandemic.

However, he warned to maintain these record numbers it is necessary to keep the region at the forefront.

“We need to understand the tourist’s digital journey, know where they start and the itineraries they take. We need to be prepared and comprehend how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be at our service”, he stated.

The digital platform will be available throughout this month and offers tourist entertainment in the region.

For example, if a tourist wants to have the experience of sailing in the Douro, they can purchase it on “marketplace”, or if they want to have an experience in Trás-dos-Montes, they can book it immediately on the platform.
