According to a report by Lusa, the average monthly remuneration declared for dependent work rose from 1,365 euros in 2022 to 1,463 euros in 2023, a gross increase of 98 euros.

The update of the national minimum wage will have contributed to the annual variation, which, in 2023, rose by 55 euros (7.8%), to 760 euros (currently the national minimum wage is 820 euros).

The rise was also higher than the average inflation for 2023, of 4.3%, measured by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

Revenue from contributions grew 12.5% in 2023 compared to the previous year, to 25,107.7 million euros, “as a result of the appreciation of the average salary (by 7.2%) and the growth in employment (by 5%) ”, highlights Ana Mendes Godinho.
