According to the Portuguese mobility barometer, Europ Assistance, carried out by Ipsos, Belgium tops the table (194 euros), followed by Austria (192 euros), Germany (153 euros), Italy (138 euros), Portugal (132 euros), France (131 euros), Czech Republic (125 euros) and Spain (108 euros).

"The values result from the average expenditure on fuel, tolls, parking, public transport, bicycle rental, scooters, and TVDE".

In Portugal, the study reveals, that the main reason for changes in mobility habits is concern about transport costs (36%). Tied for second place are the family/personal situation (24%) and concerns about the environmental impact of transport (24%).

"Teleworking and changing jobs were the reasons that most forced changes in mobility habits in Portugal".

The value of car insurance was not considered for the purposes of classifying the mobility budget, but Portugal is the second country with the lowest annual insurance value (415 euros), only surpassed by the Czech Republic (257 euros).

The European average is 616 euros. The country with the most expensive insurance is Austria (1,052 euros), followed by Belgium (761 euros), Germany (715 euros), Spain (580 euros), Italy (577 euros) and France (547 euros).

During the week, walking (91%) and using your own vehicle (83%) are the most used means of mobility in Portugal, with public transport (42%) coming in third place.

"Globally, there has been an intensification of the use of electric bicycles, with the exception of Portugal where the tendency is to use less and less. The use of personal bicycles (20%) also decreased compared to the previous year, especially in Portugal, which this year item registered a drop of 13 percentage points", it can also be read.
