Filled with hard-to-find, unique, and extraordinary merchandise, Elvas Treasures/Tesouros opens Monday, May 5 at Praça 25 de abril 14B in Elvas (Portalegre). The shop sells antiques, art, furniture, décor, lighting, jewelry, and other treasures.

“The market is flooded with Chinese and IKEA-like merchandise,” notes proprietor Bruce H. Joffe. “We suspect that people want something different. This is a great place to find special gifts for yourself, family, and friends.”

Joffe and his partner, Russ Warren, follow dozens of online “For Sale” groups and scout markets like Saturdays in Estremoz in Portugal and Spain to purchase hard-to-find, unusual, and distinctive pieces. With 25 years in the antiques and collectibles business, they’re adept at curating valuable finds at great prices.

Photos, descriptions, and prices of the store’s merchandise, updated frequently, can be found online at www.facebook.com/ElvasTreasuresTesouros.

In addition to investing in Elvas, Joffe and Warren are helping abandoned and abused animals in the Elvas area by donating 15% of all sales to local nonprofit animal rescue and shelter organizations.

Staffed entirely by volunteers, Elvas Treasures/Tesouros is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 11-14H.
