According to the theme park's director, Nuno Gonçalves: "The bidding process is nearing its conclusion, and we expect to begin construction in January [2026]. Everything is ready for us to finally implement this grand project," he revealed.
In a statement to the Lusa news agency, Nuno Gonçalves reported that the construction of five scaled-down buildings designed by contemporary architects represents an investment of approximately seven million euros.
"We will have five new buildings: the Porto House of Music, by Rem Koolhaas; the Leixões Port Terminal, by Luís Pedro Silva; the House of Stories, by Paula Rego, designed by Souto Moura; the Portuguese Pavilion, by Siza Vieira; and the Bar à Margem, by João Pedro Falcão de Campos," he said.
According to the theme park director, the new buildings will all be interconnected through a landscaped process, with bodies of water.
"We will have green areas, enjoyment areas, all connected from an architectural standpoint, and the idea of having the presence of Portuguese architecture in the park is part of this enormous investment," he emphasised.
Construction work is expected to take between 14 and 18 months, and the new space is expected to open "in mid-2027."
