Three months before leaving office, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was positively evaluated by the majority of Portuguese people, despite being behind four other presidents of the Republic in the overall ranking of evaluations. Despite the positive evaluation, the study says that there are still criticisms of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa's presidency.
The study was conducted through a survey by Pitagórica for TVI/CNN Portugal, where it is described that 56% of respondents say that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa's performance was positive. 40% of respondents have the opposite opinion, having considered the president's performance as bad or very bad.
Political confidence
When it comes to political confidence, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa surpasses the current Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro. The President of the Republic enjoys 34% of the preference of the Portuguese, while the Prime Minister only has 22%. 32% of those interviewed reported trusting both equally.
At the sociodemographic level, according to Executive Digest, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa is more trusted by women between 28 and 24 years old, residing in Greater Lisbon. The Prime Minister, on the other hand, is more trusted by men between 35 and 44 years old, residing in the North of the country.
Despite the marked advantage, the majority of Portuguese believe that the President of the Republic should have a more demanding stance when it comes to government matters. For example, 78% of those interviewed, especially women between 25 and 34 years old, advocate for greater presidential firmness on the part of the Head of State.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa now occupies fifth place among Presidents of the Republic with the best evaluation by the Portuguese. First place goes to Ramalho Eanes, with 29% of the references, followed by Jorge Sampaio (26%), Aníbal Cavaco Silva (15%) and Mário Soares (13%).
