According to the source from the Algarve sub-regional command of Civil Protection, contacted by Lusa at 9am, most of the incidents during the early morning in the Faro district were fallen trees, “with no very significant situations or significant damage”.
“All municipalities are managing to resolve the situations and maintain readiness at the municipal level,” said the same source, adding that the incidents are widespread throughout the Algarve, from the western Algarve to the eastern Algarve.
At 9 am, there were 72 ongoing incidents in the Algarve, involving a total of 210 personnel, he added, noting that there may be material damage, such as destroyed cars, but that at this moment it is not possible to specify exactly in which areas.
However, despite the strong winds still being felt and some precipitation being recorded, the worst is over, with the bad weather easing since 9am, the same source said.
Storm Kristin caused no “significant damage” in the Algarve
The strong winds that blew across the Algarve during the early hours of the morning mainly caused fallen trees, with no serious incidents reported so far, and an improvement in the weather is expected, a Civil Protection source told Lusa.
