The Portuguese Society of Cinematographers (AIP) gathered on 6 March to honour the technical and artistic mastery behind the screen.
The awards celebrate those who build the visual language of film, shifting the focus from the faces on screen to the eyes behind the camera.
In the top competitive categories, Rui Poças took home the award for Best Cinematography in a Feature Film for Bury Your Dead, while Leandro Ferrão secured the win for Best Cinematography in a Series or TV Movie for Finisterra. Both cinematographers were also celebrated for highlighting the power of Portuguese cinema globally.
The night also recognised the impact of shorter narratives, with Tomas Brice winning Best Cinematography in a Short Film for A Fronteira Azul. As well as the best student cinematography film. Creating a stage for the already established, as well as the future stars.
