The digital marketing platform, powered by artificial intelligence, indicates that due to the conflict in the Middle East, there has been greater demand for hotels in Portugal for Easter 2026, not only from the European market but also from the United States and Canada. Italians lead the growth in searches, with 36.8% more searches for hotels. In relation to the United States, there is an increase of 8.5%, and from Canada, an increase of 10.6%.
Regarding flight searches, Sojern states that the scenario is more heterogeneous in European markets, with growth recorded in Germany, Spain, and Switzerland, at 8.9%, 1.9%, and 15.3%, respectively.
Portuguese tourism also shows signs of growth when compared to 2025 figures. Regarding searches for international flights, there was a 63.1% increase, compared to the 25.2% rise recorded in the same period last year.

Well if you go arounbd to major cities and do seminars on why Portugal for your next vacation, you will get more interest.
There is nothing earthshattering here.
What has Portugal done maximize the profit from these tourists?
Open a nother Loja Chinese, a new kabob shop or maybe another computer screen repair shop.
American tourists like to shop but not for low end goods.

Some 46 years ago I married a wonderful, spectacular Portuguese girl but had little understanding of Portuguese culture here in the US. We grew up with our history books telling the stories of England, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, etc because of their large populations here in the US while Portuguese populations were very small. We live just outside of Washington DC and are active in the diplomatic community here. In recent years almost everyone we know has been to Portugal and it has become a "most favored nation" both culturally and politically in the minds of ost Americans. We go back to visit my wife's relatives almost every other year and I have come to appreciate and love this little country and it's so very warm people. However, over the years I have also seen the destruction of so much of Lisbon and other cities as a result of illegal immigration by those people who refuse to integrate, assimilate, learn the language and who prefer to live off of government welfare. It is such a shame to see such a wonderful, unique culture that took a hundred generations to build being reduced by those who refuse to work or assimilate and do nothing to help grow the country but just hang out on the steets acosting people and looking for more government welfare. I for one hope the great Portuguese people will come to undertand that this will not help build their society or ensure the existance of their culture.
