“We have a risk assessment model for the most affected areas, particularly among smaller populations, so that we can do our [clearing] work during these months, and that is what will happen,” Luís Neves told reporters in Pombal, in the district of Leiria, one of the municipalities most affected by Storm Kristin.
The Minister, speaking on the sidelines of the 19th anniversary celebrations of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), highlighted the clearing work of the teams from the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF) and, as of yesterday [1 April], military structures in the most affected territories, and asked for the collaboration of private individuals in clearing the surroundings of their homes.

It’s time to take off gloves with the criminals and others causing the horrible fires. It must be extremely harsh penalty’s, prison and severe punishment those who puts people and animals life’s in danger and destroyes property and land. It’s simply ridiculous today. Time to change perspective from justice and police authorities and protect ordinary people and clamp down hard on criminals and companies causing these fires. Fed up with words and no actions now. Step it up!!!
