The Englishman aced the eighth hole en route to tying with 1988 Champion Sandy Lyle on five under par, before taking the spoils in the play-off in the traditional Masters curtain raiser.


First played in 1960, the Par Three Contest has become a Wednesday tradition to enjoy the nine-hole course measuring 1,060 yards with friends and family.


Wallace and Shane Lowry, with his first shot, were among those to make aces on the picturesque course which winds around Ike’s Pond.
