Police were initially alerted to the possibility of a broader crime after stopping a vehicle during a road inspection and finding two bags containing cannabis.
Following a search of a house, the GNR then seized the 9.4 kilos of cannabis and 20 plants, plus cannabis germination equipment and a ventilation and extraction system to remove odours. Timers, lighting systems, digital scales, products and manuals associated with cannabis cultivation and 90 euros in cash were also apprehended.
A 32-year-old man was charged by the police with drug trafficking and taken for further questioning.
