‘The Lost Warhols – Andy Goes Street in Vilamoura’ is based on a limited edition set of 10 photos taken of the art icon by renowned photographer Karen Bystedt in 1982.
For the Vilamoura exhibition Bystedt has invited national and international street artists to put their own twists on the canvas prints.
Among the artists are names including Filippo Fuimani, King Saladeen, Draw, Mar and Ricardo Pereira.
The exhibition, which was inaugurated on Thursday at the Cerro da Vila museum, runs for ten weeks.
Meanwhile another urban art initiative is taking place concurrently in the heart of Vilamoura.
Promoted by the resort’s master developers Vilamoura World in partnership with Omey Projects, and under the V-Art cultural movement banner, five contemporary artists including Karen Bystedt are taking part in two distinct projects, named Mural and Wide Walls.
These activities are part of V-Art’s efforts to promote visual and performing arts, and to encourage the local community to help develop art projects.
