Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has recorded a total of 1,936 deaths and 72,055 cases of infection.

The DGS indicates that three deaths were recorded in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, one in the Central region and another in the Northern region.

The number of hospitalisations has continued to rise over the last 24 hours, with a further 36, out of a total of 624 patients admitted with covid-19.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, 47,003 people have recovered from the disease.

According to the DGS, 23,116 cases of infection are active, 567 more than on Thursday.

In the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, an additional 505 new cases of infection were reported, with the region accounting for 36,904 cases and 742 deaths.

Today, the North region has more than 263 new cases, totalling 25,869 and 878 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the Central region, 52 more cases were registered, accounting for 5,885 infections and 259 deaths.

In the Alentejo, 30 more cases of covid-19 were registered, totalling 1,412 cases and 23 deaths.

The Algarve region has today reported 47 more cases of infection, totalling 1,513 cases and 19 deaths.

In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, two new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, totalling 261 infections and 15 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

Madeira has not registered any cases in the last 24 hours, accounting for 211 infections, with no deaths to date.

Confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years of age, with an emphasis on the 30 to 49 age group.

In total, the new coronavirus has already affected at least 32,630 men and 39,425 women in Portugal, according to the declared cases.

Of the total fatalities, 978 were men and 958 women.

The largest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in people over 80 years of age.
