About 1,000 passengers used eight new electronic gates that allow the automated border control in the arrivals area at Faro airport, in 24 hours.

According to borders and immigration service SEF, the eight "next generation e-gates" were installed on Saturday and make it possible, "in less than 20 seconds", to "read passports with biometric data".

SEF said this weekend it controlled more than 22 thousand passengers and 103 flights in 48 hours at Faro airport

Let's hope this latest generation is more robust than the previous version which never seemed to work.
