Four Portuguese brands that make up a national furniture design group have been head-hunted by the producers of the highly-anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey movie to provide pieces of unique designer furniture to decorate the film’s sets.
National brands Delightfull, Brabbu, Boca do Lobo and Koket, which make up the Menina Design group, all have items of furniture that feature in the movie to exemplify Grey’s “extravagant and millionaire” lifestyle.
More than three dozen of the pieces, which range from lamps to tables and sideboards, can be seen in Mr. Grey’s luxurious apartment.
“The elegance and refinement of each piece presented in the film is timeless and is part of the perfection in the context of the story - from the most avant-garde detail to the most feminine, taking inspiration from nature,” a statement sent to The Portugal News from the brands explained.
Dídia Sousa, of Boca do Lobo, said “The production of the film Fifty Shades of Grey sought our pieces of furniture for decoration of the film’s sets”, and added: “One of our major goals is to raise the profile of Portuguese Design and show the world that Portugal is full of talent and culture.”
A trailer for the movie, which is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson in the leading roles as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steel, racked up more than 100,000,000 views in the week it was launched.
The movie opens in Portugal this week. At the time of going to press more than 47,000 tickets had already been sold in Portugal for the movie, whose much-anticipated world premier was due to take place on Thursday.
