A child with DAE_LE shows an adequate level of reasoning and ability to understand tasks and subjects, but fails to learn and to evaluate at school. These children are at risk of being identified as lazy or disinterested and from not receiving the support they need in order to succeed in education.
It is necessary to properly assess children with learning difficulties in school in order to obtain a diagnosis that allows the support that the child needs, says a statement from Grupo Hospital Particular do Algarve.
“Early detection makes it possible to establish interventions aimed at the child’s difficulties, significantly improving their performance and reducing academic frustration”.
Grupo Hospital Particular do Algarve are offering free screening sessions to be carried out at Hospital Particular do Algarve - Alvor | Portimão by Speech Therapist Ana Gonçalves, on 21 March between 9am and 5pm. Sessions are to last approximately half an hour, and registration via the HPA Saúde Group website is mandatory.
