Jesus signs new contract in Brazil

Jorge Jesus has finally ended speculation over his future by extending his contract with South American champions Flamengo.

The veteran Portuguese, who enjoyed success with Benfica before taking charge at Lisbon rivals Sporting, was nearing the end of the 12-month deal he signed last year.

He made history by leading Flamengo to five major titles - the Copa Libertadores, the Brasileiro, the Brazilian Super Cup, the Recopa Sul-Americana and the Guanabara Cup.

Jesus’ achievements, particularly in winning the Copa Libertadores, has made him a huge favourite among supporters and since arriving in Brazil, Jesus has presided over 51 games, with 38 wins, nine draws and just four losses; scoring 118 goals and conceding 45. CW
