The play “Lorenzaccio” by Alfred de Musset, staged for the first time in Portugal, opens on October 23 at the Palácio do Bolhão, in Porto. The result of a coproduction between the Teatro Nacional São João and Teatro do Bolhão, staged by Rogério de Carvalho and offers the audience two tragedies - personal and the city - and several intrigues.

With regard to personal tragedy, the protagonist, Lorenzo, is called “Lorenzaccio”, the scene takes place in Florence, an Italian city that “moves” to Bolhão, in Porto, but it does not present itself to the audience in physical or visual form, since the stage appears before the audience stripped of scenery, practically empty, as if in contradiction with the language of the play.

“Lorenzaccio” is being staged until 14 November on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 pm, on Fridays and Saturdays at 9:00 pm, and on Sundays at 4:00 pm. On 1 November the play will have simultaneous translation into Portuguese Sign Language.
