At The Portugal News we havetaken the very difficult decision toreach out to you, our readers, to help us to continue to bring you free, unbiased and professional reporting, by asking you to consider making a donation, however small, to help the team to continue to work.
We have always prided ourselves on bringing our news to you for free in the vast majority of cases and want to be able to continue to do so both online and in the weekly printed edition. We do not want to put up pay walls or to limit your access in any way to the news each day.
Our usual source of revenue comes from our loyal advertisers, however they too have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and this has led to a considerable loss of revenue, while our overheads remain the same.
Throughout the crisis we have continued with our small and dedicated team, to provide the weekly printed newspaper, to deliver this across the country and to provide essential daily updates about the current situation and other news across Portugal in English.
We are asking readers to make a donation to The Portugal News to help support the company during this time until business returns to usual, hopefully sooner rather than later. Any money raised will be used to directly support the funding of producing the newspaper and for no other reason.
We understand that these are unprecedented times and that there are many people in need and ask that readers who are able to show their support through a donation of any size, do so only if they are financially able to.
The Portugal News has been part of the community since 1977 and we want to be able to continue to bring you all of the news for many more years. Your donation, no matter how modest, can help us to continue to do this.
To make a donation, simply visit https://www.gofundme.com/f/please-show-your-support-for-the-portugal-news, details can also be found on our Facebook page and on our website.
We have chosen to use Go Fund Me as it is a reliable and accountable platform for making donations, however if you would prefer not to make a digital donation, then you can instead call the office to make a donation over the phone or can make out a cheque if you would prefer. Please just call the team on 282 341 100 and they will be more than happy to help.

This should really be called the Algarve News. It is not really relevant to the many of us who don't live on the Algarve

Why not introduce a temporary charge of "Only 50 Cents" until businesses get back on their feet. The paper is greatly appreciated by its readers and I'm sure the majority wouldn't mind after having received the paper for free for so long.

If you decide to censor the comments and not place critical comments you won't get any support. This isn't the PRC!

If the newspaper is short of income, instead of asking for people to just give you money, it would be a better idea for you to respond to requests for prices to place adverts in the paper. I sent a request on the 5th May and have not had a response from the paper.

I read this news every day. Thanks for the delivery. I will also support you financially as soon as possible. I have recently arrived in the country permanently in the middle of all of this disaster, and in spite of.
I will stay in the country for a long time, if that is possible, despite some silly decisions by the country’s government. If not, I will move on to being an entrepreneur somewhere else.
As an entrepreneur, I naturally think of things as being in the country’s interest, but now it seems that the state doesn’t care a bit like comparing who will raise money for the state in the future with all its crazy ideas. More imagination of how things are than realism. I hope for some kind of awakening to the facts instead of the imagination. Some kind of personal experience and not just a wild imagination of how things should be.
