Prime Minister António Costa said that at a time when the global economy was facing great uncertainty, Portugal continued to attract and reinforce foreign investment.

Costa pointed to the need to continue investing in scientific knowledge and said that while recent forecasts point to the country continuing to grow above the EU average in 2019, the aim was to see through a "decade of continued and sustained growth above the EU average."
